Self-Titled Album Out Now On Dine Alone Records

“The term ‘Southern U.K. rock’ may need to be coined for Alberta Cross, a gaggle of soulful guitar wailers who spit Kentucky-style riffs despite their British upbringings.” – The New York Times

“Writing ‘Ghost of Santa Fe’ represented a return to his musical origins for Alberta Cross bandleader Petter Ericson Stakee. The horn-soaked tune takes flight from the start, soaring skyward on Stakee’s yearning vocals over a steady beat, piano and warm layers of electric guitar.” – Wall Street Journal
“Most recent single ‘The Ghost of Santa Fe’ is reminiscent of The Head And The Heart’s first album, but with a Born To Run fervor marked by the saxophone and keys. And with a vocal timbre reminiscent of Ben Bridwell of Band of Horses…” – Paste Magazine

“…riveting brass section that gives the song [‘Ghost of Santa Fe’] a rich, soulful sound throughout.” – AmericanSongwriter.com

“‘Ghost of Santa Fe’ enters with beckoning horns, cresting like a sunrise…” – Consequence of Sound

Today, RollingStone.com have unveiled Alberta Cross’ new music video for single “Ghost of Santa Fe.” PRESS HERE to watch. Directed by Chris Rubino and featuring actor Craig Stark (Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight), the video pays homage to David Bowie’s film The Man Who Fell To Earth. A desert sci-fi setting, Rubino explains, “This video uses the sense of discovery through the subconscious. We are seeing through the frightened, yet enlightened eyes of our character. We become immersed in his hallucinatory visual world.” While RollingStone.com expressed, “The clip’s cryptic imagery, realized by director Chris Rubino, heightens the drama of an already-haunting song.”

The alt-folk tune is featured on Alberta Cross’ newly released self-titled album [Dine Alone Records], which was co-produced by Alberta Cross’ frontman Petter Ericson Stakee and Claudius Mittendorfer (Temples, Interpol, Johnny Marr). Recorded in Upstate New York at Dreamland, Stakee’s main inspiration for the latest offering stemmed from late night jam sessions he was a part of over the last year in NYC with other well-known musicians, including friend Kraig [Jarret Johnson] of Golden Smog. The organic feel and nature to those late night jams had Stakee wanting to channel that vibe into the new LP. Stakee started to explore new musical territories, and for the first time used vibrant horn sections – a prominent element on “Ghost of Santa Fe” – weaved throughout the 12-track collection.

Alberta Cross recently performed “Ghost of Santa Fe” live, along with a few other album cuts, for NPR’s World Cafe. PRESS HERE to listen to that moving performance.
